Prevalence of Salmonella in Cashews, Hazelnuts, Macadamia Nuts, Pecans, Pine Nuts, and Walnuts in the United States

Nuts (tree nuts and peanuts) have low water activity and thus do not provide favorable conditions for bacterial growth. However, Salmonella has been detected in pecans, peanuts, almonds, pistachios, walnuts, and pine nuts during the last few years.
